wisteria

it's a waiting game

april 2025

We've been in our house for 7 years.

As soon as we moved in, we began making a garden.

One of the visions, was to have an abundant wisteria as a focal point at the bottom of the garden.

To give you some context, the garden is approximately 4m x 10m.

We're not talking anything grand.

It started like this...

and has grown to become a little sanctuary.

Well, last year, after 6 years in the ground, the wisteria finally flowered.

To celebrate, I created a print.

I began by sketching.

And then began carving.

This was the end result.

You can have a lovely time messing about with what is called 'ghost printing' which is when most of the ink has been removed.

It creates some nice effects.

You'll notice too that the flowers are pink not purple... that's because I chose a pink variety. And to my great happiness, the flowers were actually pink when they flowered.

I wonder if there will be any this year?
