Have you been?
40 minutes to the East of Edinburgh... is a small town called North Berwick.
It sits at the foot of a small hill called 'The Law'
It has lovely, solid houses, some made of a rich red sandstone & some painted in candy bright colours.
There's even a teeny weeny house squeezed between the the others, called Puffin Cottage.
Imagine living there??!!
Oh, and I forgot to mention... it's by the sea.
Oh yes it is...
You're never too far away from the sea.
The colours change all the time, from dark inky turquoise
to pale silvery grey.
Sitting just of the coast is the iconic Bass Rock.
Unchanging, it sits there through all seasons.
Sometimes with a haze of white over it, when the gannets come to visit, and the rest of the year, in it's solid basalt state.
North Berwick is a special place for us. We've visited since my childhood in the 1970's and my children have been coming since they were tiny.
I couldn't resist playing around with the colours and shapes of the iconic Bass Rock.
The landscape around East Lothian is so enchanting, I'd like to explore more one day.
It will happen, I'll make sure of it.
Let me know if you've been.
