Take me to the lakes...
If it's good enough for Taylor Swift, it's good enough for me.
Just an hour and a half from us are the majestic mountains of the Lake District.
Sometimes we go for the day, and sometimes we treat ourselves & stay a night.
These pictures were taken in winter...
... and these were taken in summer.
If the sun shines in the Lake District, it's nothing short of a miracle, but last year, for one day only, we were treated to blue skies and white fluffy clouds.
There were drifts of buttercups in the field next to Ullswater.
So rather than create more moody, dramatic prints which capture the atmosphere, I created a series of lighter, brighter postcards.
The buttercups felt like such a key element.
Layering them over the landscape in the background seemed to capture that bright summers day.
And messing about with different colour combinations, resulted in a very different atmosphere to the prints I had previously created.
If you've ever been on a boat trip up Ullswater, then you'll know how exciting it is to see little slate grey buildings nestling on the lakesides or even clinging to the mountainside.
This was irresistible, and it was so lovely playing with ways to capture the feeling of the houses hidden amongst the trees.
Look at the different effects depending on how much ink is applied.
Kits have been put together, ready for you to have a go at printing your own postcards.
No two will look the same, it's part of the magic.
Would you like to have a go?
Let's print them together.... it will be lovely, almost as lovely as the Lakes themselves.
