Mallorca... I've mentioned it before.
It feels like an island of dreams.
My favourite town is Muro in the farming la Pla area of the island.
The town has a pedestrianised walkway where locals sit and chat or walk their dogs, once the heat of the day has subsided.
At dusk, the swallows whirl overhead, never resting for a moment.
At night, the sound of the cicadas in the fields is overwhelming.
After one of our visits, I became fixated on hand stitching the loops and twirls of the swallows pathways in the sky.
The fabric onto which I stitched had been hand painted to capture the warmth in the dusky sky.
In contrast to the gentle, warm tones of the island at dusk, the bright colours of the day are irresistible.
So, true to form, as soon as we returned home, I began messing about with colours and compositions to capture the vibrancy of the flowers against the sky.
Honestly, you wouldn't believe how many times I printed these & threw them away.
But we're aiming for perfectly imperfect here, otherwise we'd use a computer to create them.
We're back again next year, I wonder what ideas I'll get from the next trip?
