Sometimes it catches you when you're least expecting it...
...a super moon.
Here in England, the weather means that the phases of the moon can slip by without us noticing.
But on a recent trip to Edinburgh, I looked out the window just before dawn and saw the most spectacular moon I'd ever seen.
I made it a mission to climb Calton Hill to see it in all it's glory.
No photos ever capture it's magnificence, so once home again, I played around with printing to try and capture the moon's impressive presence.
I enjoyed using pale blue as the background colour to capture the pale dawn sky.
The dark inky blue/black is probably more evocative of the night sky, but for some reason, it didn't make me feel good when I looked at it.
So, I carried on printing with the pale blue.
It feels somehow more hopeful, the moon in the daytime.
Next time you see a full moon, take a moment to enjoy it's wonder.
