The palest of yellow flowers with a richer tone in the centre... primroses.

The town where my grandparents lived in the Scottish Borders had drifts and drifts alongside the riverbank in the spring. Visits to Melrose, and in turn, the river Tweed were honestly a bit of chore when we were teenagers. My sister & I used to fall asleep on the sofa whilst the adults walked down to the river... what I wouldn't give to be able to walk to that river now.

So when they bloom, I often think of the river Tweed.

I think the humble primrose is worth celebrating.
