colour, colour, colour

and the brighter the better

february 2022

My daughter has a very special friend who has a rule...

...only wear colour.

She says black is bad for the soul, and I have to say, I'm inclined to agree.

So now, I make colour a priority.

In jewellery making, the focus is usually on the gold or silver form, and the result can end up a bit monochrome.

The challenge was how to introduce colour...

What a lovely challenge.

It's transformed the jewellery I make, but also led to the creation of Joy bracelets.

These simple bracelets, made from glass beads & silk cord, finished with a signature sliding clasp, are super easy to make.

The only tricky bit is choosing which colour combination to go for.

Once the colour floodgates had opened, it unleased all sorts of colour creativity...

For nearly a year, I have been steadily stitching every letter of the alphabet in the loveliest mix of colours.

If you join us for a kitchen table class, you'll have a design to follow, and you'll learn some simple stitches to create your own alphabet letter.

One thing I have noticed, is that people enjoy expressing their individual colour combinations...that's where the magic happens, but if you feel daunted by that then simply follow the pattern.

Easy peasy.

or you can explore printmaking...

... Using pre-carved printing blocks, you can mess about with inks and print your own hand made cards.

We can also carve your handwriting into a block to create the ultimate personalised card.

And that's just the beginning...

...there's plenty more colour to come. Watch this space, and if you'd like to find out more about a class, click here.
