Usually nature does it best.
Like these clematis flower buds.

... this field of wheat, still just greenish grey before it turns golden.
This un-sung hero of a plant - akebia quinata alba, for me, is utter perfection.
Flowering in March, when most the other flowers are still buds, each flower is like a tiny jewel.
So the best plan when you are creating is to aim for perfection, but accept, you're probably not going to achieve it.
This letter L isn't perfect, but I honestly think it adds the charm and character.
It's a gentle reminder that it's been made by hand, not a machine.
This ditsy print is far from perfect... but the colours combined, and the random shapes gives it a little bit of magic that I think would have been lost if it it had been created on a computer.

It might not be perfect, but it's full of personality.
One of the most popular prints I have ever created is this one.
Trying to get the colours to align, combined with the different stages of printing (5 layers in total), mean that there are plenty of imperfections in this one, but I bloomin love it.
If you look closely at the moonstones in this extra long Joy necklace, each one is a little bit different...
... a different colour, a different size, even sometimes a different shape.
You see, they've been cut, polished & drilled by hand.
For me, that is so much more exciting than a perfectly matched set, all the same size & colour.
So, the next time you feel disappointed with your creation, remember - it's perfectly imperfect, just like us.
Oh, and it's still fine to aim for perfection, just be gentle on your-self if you don't quite get there.
